Chapter 2:  How Smart Readers Think.
What did you think about this chapter?
Is the "lack lf" background knowledge a problem with our students at C.S.D.?  Is this the #1 issue affecting literacy at our school?  What are some of the other issues affecting comprehension?

Welcome to our Literacy Committee Blog Site.  Our 1st book is:  "Subjects Matter:  Every Teacher's Guide to Content-Area Reading", written by Harvey Daniels and Steven Zemelman.
This week (Week 1:  February 16th - 22), we will read Chapter 1- Reading for Real and discuss the following:

a.  Why content teachers care  or should care about reading
b.  Why is there public concern regarding reading
c.  The goals of this book as it relates to our goals as a Literacy Committee.
